Credit courses are optional courses open to the students of the Faculty of Arts. The courses include “Modern Chinese I” and “Modern Chinese II”.

 

  1. Modern Chinese I

It is composed of preliminary listening, speaking, reading and initial verbal communication skills, which can meet the basic communication needs of daily life, study and general social occasions. They will begin to develop interest and confidence in learning the Chinese language. It will lay the language foundation for further Chinese studies.

 

  1. Modern Chinese II

Modern Chinese II, a continuation of Modern Chinese I, is designed for students who are able to recognize approximately 350-400 Chinese words. The course is focused on listening, speaking, reading and basic writing. At the end of the course, it is expected that students will gain introductory Chinese cultural knowledge, and acquire preliminary cross-cultural competence and international perspectives, and be able to communicate generally on some daily topics.
