The Meeting of Board of Management 2021
The annual meeting of the Board of Management, Confucius Institute, University of Colombo (CIUC) was held on 30th December 2021 at the Senate Hall, University of Colombo.
The Chair, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo (UoC), Senior Prof. Chandrika N. Wijeyaratne welcomed all the Members of the Board. She expressed her gratitude towards CIUC by stating that the CIUC is an important part of UoC and appreciated the fruitful work and brilliant performances of 2 Directors against the challenges and the backdrop of the COVID-19. The Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Prof. Yang Dan appreciated CIUC for conducting regular Chinese teaching smoothly against the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed that BFSU would continuously support CIUC and was looking forward to cooperating with the UoC & Hong-He University (HU). The Vice-President of Hong-He University, Prof. Zhang Canbang delivered his speech on behalf of the President of HU Prof. Yu Ganqian, and made his applaud for the five years’ development of CIUC. He emphasized that the CIUC has been contributing towards research and educational cooperation between the two countries and appreciated the deepest gratitude to the CIUC staff.
Prof. Wimal Hewamanage, Sri Lankan Director, Confucius Institute delivered the Work Report of CIUC 2021 and subsequently, Prof. Ma Zhongwu Chinese Director, Confucius Institute presented the Work Plan of CIUC 2022 with the Financial Budget. Senior Professor Lasantha Manawadu, Dean of Arts delivered the vote of thanks. All issues concerning the development of CIUC in the following year were discussed and the corresponding solutions and suggestions were proposed.
