‘Beauty of Sri Lanka and China through the Third Eye’ The Opening of the Sri Lanka China Culture Photography Exhibition
Sri Lanka –China Culture Photographic Exhibition which was organized by the Confucius Institute at University of Colombo (CIUC) in association with China Cultural Centre in Sri Lanka was ceremonially opened to the public by the Chief guest of the occasion Senior Professor H.D. Karunarathne-the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Prof. Lasantha Manawadu-the Dean Faculty of Arts, Ms. Yun Feng, Director-China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka and two Directors of the CIUC – Prof. Ma Zhongwu and Dr. Anuththaradevi Widyalankara on 7th June 2023 at the Orange Area of the Faculty of Arts.
Under the title of ‘Observe the Beauty of Sri Lanka and China’ the photographic exhibition was designed to promote the awareness of culture of both countries and to encourage and motivate students to engage in Chinese studies. Further this Exhibition will introduce viewers to a range of issues that currently impact the environment, modern high-end technology of China as well as ethnic composition that given a light to the cultural vibrant of the Chinese society.
As such, the photographic exhibition depicts the scenic beauty of China as well as the historical and cultural heritage of both countries. The ancient cities of China, ancient and modern architectural structures, religious heritage of the nation, and village life of the people blend with the tropical fauna and flora being exhibited, also form an integral part of the Exhibition.
The Exhibition will feature such outstanding photographs of China and Sri Lanka’s beauty and heritage as seen through the creative eyes of famous award-winning Photographers of the both countries.
